Getting Around

Movement around Mexico is really easy as with most of Central and South America, there are huge bus stations in most cities and towns and busses run frequently between all the major spots.

Booking ahead can be a good idea but turning up at stations will usually be OK to find a company with seats on a coach running very soon.

There are options of Executive, First Class and Second Class which obviously come at scaled prices, for those of you on a budget, Second Class is usually fine but will inevitably have no toilet, TV or air conditioning, however the seats are big enough and recline back so it's easy enough to get some sleep. The best companies are ADO and OCC.

Make sure you lock your bags with a padlock and be wary when at bus stations especially at night but don't be put off, Mexico is a safe country with very friendly people.

If you need to travel more quickly, flights to one of the many airports are easy and relatively cheap with a quick internet search

As a British Citizen you won't need to organise anything for a short visit to Mexico, with a British Passport you are able to remain in the country for upto 180 days. No proof of funds or an onward ticket should be required.

Mexico is a safe country, despite what some media reports may suggest. The Northern parts can be more sketchy so make sure you look into where you are going and safety advise before you leave if this is where you want to explore. Make sure you have a couple of padlocks and try to find hostels with lockers to keep your valuables safe. Lock your backpack when travelling on busses.

Take some Immodium with you to help the inevitable and allow yourself a good period of time to explore all the wonders Mexico has to offer. You don't really need to plan in advance too much as the transport system is great and regular. We love Mexico, we know you won't be dissappointed.
