Another major entry and exit point from the country, Christchurch is known as the garden city, it is a more laid back city than may of the others and boasts some of the best architecture in New Zealand. The second largest city in New Zealand, it is the most English city in country and is home to many great museums and restaurants.
A really good place to find work, Christchurch has a vibrant nightlife and hosts many sporting events and concerts, it's a beautiful city and one you can't fail to enjoy your time in.

For a great stay with a difference, we recommend the Jailhouse. A refurbished prison that now has all the amenities and comforts you need. Clean, bright spacious ‘cells’, large communal areas, and a great kitchen with every utensil under the sun. Check out the cell they have kept from when it was a working jail.
On a rainy day, we highly recommend taking a trip to Caddyshack City, this is the most impressive indoor crazy golf course we've ever seen. With working models that transport your ball through everything from an airport to a ski field, the models are fantastic and you won't fail to be amazed.
Another great place to visit is Science Alive. Be amazed at the interactive displays, get involved in one of the demonstration shows and learn amazing things things about science from the world around us. We really enjoyed Science Alive and definately think you should check it out.
The Old Countryhouse is one of the homeliest backpackers, it is made up of 4 refurbished old style houses each with their own fully equipped kitchen and cozy lounge rooms, with TV, stereo, books and games. Very clean, with helpful and friendly staff. A short walk takes you right to the city centre.
